So you think you can dance: Patrick Swayze tribute

You may need a tissue if your a freak like me…

In memory of Patrick Swayze

I had a bad day today. I’ve had a few bad days and I’m not sure why. While I was fixing dinner I got the following text from my little (30 year old) brother…

Jared: So r u sad ur favorite star died today? Or did u get over ur Patrick Swayze crush?

Me: Oh NO! I hadn’t heard. R u serious?

Jared: Yep, cancer got him.

Me: Oh! I am sad. I can’t believe I didn’t hear about it. All I’ve heard is what an a** Kanye West is. I can’t believe you even remember that!

Jared: U still have a collage of him in the Utah basement.

Me: LOL! Is that where that went. I knew he wasn’t doing good.

Jared: Oh, North and South will never be the same.

Me: I’m going to watch the whole thing this week in his memory!

Jared: It will probably be on TV in his memory also.

Me: Well at least I heard about it from family.

Oh my Orry Main! My little heart hurts! I even wrote a 200 page script because I didn’t like that they killed off Orry. Mine was a much happier ending and Orry and Madeline were together forever! Yes, I am a dork! I wonder if that is still in the basement in Utah?

Rest in peace Patrick Swayze! My heart goes out to your wife and family…

Landon turns 2 and the first day of school!

This has been an emotional day for me. My baby turned 2 and my baby girl started Kindergarten today! The house seemed so strange without her. I kept wondering where she was. We had Landon’s party on Saturday…

I was a little distracted because my dad was getting 2 stints put in at the same time. Until a couple days ago I thought my father was invincible. Hayden was supposed to get baptized on Saturday but we will have to put it off until October. My dad is feeling better and onery as ever.

Hensley and Hayden were cute before we took them to school. Hensley was very proud of her new Bling Sketchers! That’s my girl…

I keep thinking about the song by Kenny Chesney, ‘Don’t Blink’  Sometimes I am so ready for the next step or for them to get to an easier age that I don’t remember to cherish the now!

Don’t blink
Just like that you’re six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you’re twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don’t blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your “better half”
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you’re praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don’t blink

Long time, no see!

I haven’t posted for so long that I don’t even know where to begin!!! We went on vacation for 4 weeks. It ended up being a little long and we were all very homesick but it was a nice break from the heat.

We were in California for a week at the Lawrence Welk resort. Went to Lego Land…

I got a lot of excercise chasing my baby through the golf course before someone nailed us in the head with a golf ball, went swimming and toward the end of the week went to Disneyland…

Landon was trying to get in on the dance party. Hensley danced and was in heaven all day! She loved the princess castle.

Landon really didn’t know what was going on and was in a stroller pretty much the whole time! We’ll have to go back when he can appreciate it a little more…

Brandon drove to Escondido to spend a couple of days with us before our trip to Utah. We had a brilliant idea to go to the beach on the 4th of July! After trying to park for an hour and walking another half hour to get to the beach we had lunch and took the kids down to the beach…

We let them play for a little while and then left! We must be getting old but big crowds drive me nuts. It was Landon’s first time playing in the ocean…

We left the next day to drive back to Arizona, go to my nieces birthday party and get laundry and packing done for another long drive to Utah. 12 hours straight through with my mom, the 3 kids and me. FUN! If your wondering where Hunter was this whole time, he was in Hawaii, poor kid!!!

We were in Utah for a few days and then got back in the mini van and my dad drove us to Portland, Oregon for an Estes family reunion. It was a lot of fun. I hadn’t been to one since I was a senior in high school.

This is just my mom and dad’s kids and grandkids. Monte, Alice, Roy, Chris, Vonda and Jared were not able to attend.

I love this picture of my dad!!! He’s the oldest child.

When the family reunion was over we drove back to Utah and were there a couple of more weeks. We were able to go to Steel Days and visit with a lot of friends. My brother David, his son Carl and my sister Careen also came into town, it was great to see all of them, it had been a long time! I was also able to spend a lot of time with my nephew Jeremy and his family. He is just a couple of years younger than me and we have always been very close! We were able to get together with my mom’s side of the family too. Only Jared was missing out of my mom’s kids. We were able to visit with my aunt and 2 of my cousins. It was great to see everyone!

My kids absolutely loved my nephew Carl. I’m sure they drove him nuts but he was  sooooo good with them. They still talk about how fun he was. I wish I lived closer to my brothers and sisters.

Brandon flew into Salt Lake City on July 24th. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to see him. 4 weeks is way to long to be away from home! We celebrated July 24th at my nephew Jeremy’s house, actually watched fireworks, something you just can’t do in Arizona and started back the next day. We drove as far as Vegas, stayed at Circus Circus and finished the next day. I have never been so happy to see my house, dogs, cactus, palm trees and feel oven hot air on my skin in my entire life. 4 weeks was just too long!

Happy Birthday Hayden!!!

My first born is 8 years old today! It seems so crazy to me! Hayden is a sweet and loving child, he is so much like me that sometimes I feel bad for the poor kid! He is a dreamer, has a soft heart and is always in another world. I would love to join him there somedays. He will be baptized in August because we will be out of town for a month! YEAH! Get out of this heat!

Happy Birthday my sweet boy! You make me proud!!!

Toxic or Non-Toxic

_mg_1659reHere is a list of items that have been tested by Landon without the consent of his mother. No need to thank us, knowing that you will have some peace of mind will be enough for me…

1- Crayons- Non-Toxic (and makes a very colorful dirty diaper the next day. Trix and Fruity pebbles also have this effect.)

2- Markers- Non-Toxic (can anyone tell me how to get it out of my carpet though?)

3- Deodorant- Non-Toxic (he did not like the taste of it however)

4- Glue Stick- Non-Toxic

5- Ant Bait traps – Luckily I got to it before  he actually tested this one, I’m pretty sure that would have been a trip to the emergency room.

6- Hair Color- Non-Toxic as long as you wipe it out of his mouth and face immediately, otherwise he will have a color stain for a couple days. Also rinse immediately when he decides to color his hair.

American Idol

47047902I was absolutely thrilled last night with the results of American Idol this year! I really thought they were both great in their own way. Just completely different styles. I love this look on Kris Allen’s face, pure shock! I really don’t think that Adam will have a hard time taking it to the next level either. He was very comfortable in his own skin with Kiss and Queen, I think anyone would be thrilled to sign him.

Speaking of comfortable in his own skin, Kris did an amazing performance with Keith Urban (swoon). I always forget what an awesome performer Keith Urban is. I absolutely loved their performance of ‘Kiss The Girl’ with Kris and Keith Urban.57498263 I think they both have this awesome ability to make you think they are singing right to you. Sigh, did I say SWOON! I wonder if this means that he will go down the country road. I certaintly hope so. No matter which genre he goes into I will be looking forward to his first album!!!

Did you miss American Idol last night? Who did you want to win. Or maybe you haven’t been following American Idol this year. I have to say it was my favorite year. In case you did miss it, here is a video of Kris’ journey this year and his performance with Keith Urban! Swoon!!!

My little bruiser!!!

My little Landon has once again required a trip to the E.R. He really cannot avoid disaster. Last Friday he was climbing up on our swing set, we played this fun game all week. He would climb up and I would get him down by catching him down the slide. This time he saw me coming for him and hurried up the stairs. He lost his footing and went head first into the rocks. I have to admit this time really freaked me out! He had a gaping hole in his head and there was blood everywhere!

I rushed right out to the E.R. and they actually saw me right away. We were still there 4 hours from beginning to the end but he got 4 stitches, 4 plastic animals and a home made Teddy Bear out of the whole ordeal.

Here he is on Mother’s Day…

mothersday20095

We went to the doctor today and had the stitches taken out. I asked Dr. Chang about his modeling career but he couldn’t tell me if he would scar or not! LOL!

Tomorrow is the last day of Hensley’s preschool, we are having a field trip at Peter Piper Pizza. I can’t believe she will start Kindergarten in August. I hope she has a patient teacher.

sawyerTonight is the season finale of LOST, I’m excited but scared at the same time. Their season finale’s usually don’t end well. I think next year is their last year so anything is possible. Here is my question though. If they have gone back 30 years in time, and if they do all die in the end, will they not be born again? Or are they already babies? Miles saw himself as a baby and  we have seen Charlotte as a little girl.

This time travel stuff boggles my mind, it could just go over and over and over!  The same thing is happening in the Outlander series that I am reading.

Whatever happens I can guarantee that there will be no closure. I am preparing myself!!! LOL!

American Idol results are also in tonight. I really like Kris Allen, although I think all 3 of them are very talented. It should be a close competition. What did we ever do without DVR’s? My favorite thing is to pause the T.V. while I put the baby to bed and then we can usually fast forward through most of the commercials!

Speaking of, it’s time to put the baby to bed. I can hear him getting into something, I think I’ll put him to bed before he can cause any damage to himself or anyone else tonight.

Farewell our faithful friend…

Today we had to make the difficult decision to put our sweet Waldo to sleep. He was 14 years old and has been declining rapidly the last couple of weeks. He was a wonderful dog. We got him from Brandon’s sister back in ’99, he was 4 years old at the time. He was a weiner dog mix, half long hair, half short hair, half mini and half full size. The dashchund’s were bred to hunt for badgers, that is why they are so short and long so that they could burrow through the ground. We would always joke that Waldo was in the backyard looking for badger’s, he would always run the perimeter of the yard and our backyard is full of  ‘badger’ holes.

He never once complained as we brought 3 more children and 5 dogs into our home. Goodbye Waldo, we love you!

Can you say Drama?

At the risk of sounding like Jerry Seinfeld right now, What is the deal with girls! OH MY GOSH! My daughter is such the little drama queen and is only 5 years old. Where can it even go from here? Only worse I’m thinking. Everyday is a new drama, a new melt down and nothing will ever be all right again in the world. Today something as innocent as my sweet Hayden picking one of my roses and giving it to me as he walked through the door. Can you say drama? There was a melt down, squealing that I don’t quite understand, hopping and so on. She wanted to give me a rose!

‘Go pick me a rose then! Just hurry because the baby is trying to get outside!’

By the time she RIPPED a rose off my bush I was frustrated with the crying baby that I was fighting with to stay inside that I yelled ‘Thank you! I love it!!!’

The crying and squealing and hysterics did not go away after that.

‘You like Hayden’s rose better than my rose! I don’t want you to love his rose more than mine!’

‘I love both the roses the same, just like I love both of you the same’

‘NOOOOOOOOOOO’ followed by squeals and sobs like she’s 14 and was just dumped by her first boyfriend.

I can only imagine what that will be like!
